Today is a very special day!
As most of you may know, we grew up with a pretty traditional Vietnamese family. Our parents are huge on "Chinese/Vietnamese" astrology so we couldn't help but lend an ear (or two) over the years. Our parents really believe that the signs really play a major role on the success of all relationships.
We did found ourselves quite fitting the general description of our sign. Also, please note that the element ( fire, earth, metal, wood or water) of your sign is also a major point in judging the compatibility or success rate.
Because of cyclical lunar dating, the first day of the year can fall anywhere between late January and the middle of February. Pls note in this blog, "Chinese" new year will refer to lunar calendar which also includes Koreans (Seollal), Tibetans and Bhutanese (Losar), Mongolians (Tsagaan Sar), Vietnamese (Tết), and the Japanese before 1873 (Oshogatsu).
On the Western calendar, the start of the New Year will commence TODAY on Sunday, February 14, 2010 and end on February 2, 2011. It is The Year of the Tiger which is also known by its formal name of Geng Yin. This year, the date has special significance since it also happens to fall on Valentine's Day making it a doubly auspicious day to celebrate in the West.
The cycle of twelve animal signs originates from Chinese tradition as a way of naming the years. The animals follow one another in an established order and are replicated every twelve years. The rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig are the twelve animal signs. Every animal has particular characteristics and people born in a specific year are believed to take on these characteristics.
Tiger people are sensitive, given to deep thinking, capable of great sympathy. They can be extremely short-tempered, however. Other people have great respect for them, but sometimes tiger people come into conflict with older people or those in authority. sometimes Tiger people cannot make up their minds, which can result in a poor, hasty decision or a sound decision arrived at too late. They are suspicious of others, but they are courageous and powerful. Tigers are most compatible with Horses, Dragons, and Dogs
