TOP 5 New Year Resolutions of 2011

New Year, New Promises: The TOP 5 Resolutions and Your Guide to Achieve Them

Every single year, without fail, we all start buzzing about what our New Year resolutions should be.  We promise that this year will be different and we say that we'll stick to our resolutions…we know that’s a lie. But this year, 13 days into 2011, it is time to change the pattern and really make things happen. After all, we are the ones benefiting from our own resolutions!   Well, we've got the tips to help you make it through this year and keep your resolution.

Here are the TOP 5 New Year resolutions of 2011 along with some simple tips to achieve them:

1) Keep a healthy lifestyle!

A regular workout routine and a healthy diet are great ways to lose weight the right way.

A detox is a great way to jump start any weight loss plan or just simply to cleanse your body of toxins. The lemon-aid diet, also known as the master cleanse is a great detox to do. Try it only for 7 days and you will cleanse your body and lose up to 1 pound a day. After the detox make the effort to start eating better. More vegetables, fruit, protein and less junk food!

The Master Cleanse Detox consist of a mixture containing water, cayenne pepper, fresh lemon juice and Grade B maple syrup. Every night you drink a tea laxative followed by a salt water flush in the morning to remove waste

Pilates and yoga are great ways to not only relax and eliminate stress, but it’s a fabulous form of exercise that stretches and tones the muscles. If you don’t like lifting weights this is perfect for you, you get to lie on a mat! In addition, yoga puts you in a great meditative state and it will help with concentration when you are detoxing so you won’t break.

With yoga’s rise in popularity, there are new studios popping up everywhere. Join your nearest
studio or even start off with some Youtube tutorials.

Regular cardiovascular  activity is great for the heart and helps shed some extra fat. Start of slow with walking everyday. Simply walking 45 minutes a day at a brisk pace can tone up those legs and even help lose inches off the waist.

No need to get a gym membership. A few  laps around your block will do the trick!

2) Save money!

It's very easy to spend money on things here and there. At the end of the month it all adds up to a large. Try these tips to save big.

Piggy bank:  They're not just for kids! The old fashion piggy bank is a great way to save a few extra dollars every month. Empty your pockets at the end of the day into a jar to start off.
Make a goal each month on how much you would like to save. Gradually increase the amount every month and deposits your savings into a bank

Dine in: Don't spend your money ordering out every night, cook at home. Use your kitchen. It costs on average $10 dollars per meal. If you cut back eating out you can use that money to buy groceries that will last you longer.

You can save $200 a month or more just by cooking at home more often

Keep track of your spending: Start keeping a list of your expenses. This way you can visualize how much you are actually spending. Create categories such as food, entertainment, bills etc and you will get an idea of your spending. When you are able to visualize your expenses you can see what you can make cut back on.

Apps on your phone make it easier to record spending on the go.

3 Quit those bad habits!

Smoking, reduce intake of alcohol, no drugs! We all like to party and have fun but too much alcohol can leave you sick in the morning and be the cause of weight gain. Drugs and smoking  aren't any better. Smoking ages you, causes cancer and drugs  just don't help in any way !!!  Here are some tips to help kick that habit to the curb.

Set a quit date and stick to it: Set a maximum number of cigarettes you can smoke each day and decrease it as you get closer to your quitting date. Help and support from your doctor will give you the proper guidance to stick to your goal.

Beat it once and for all!

Limit alcohol intake: There is no need to quit alcohol all together, just regulate your intake. That extra 3 shots on top  of the glass of wine  you just had and cocktail is not necessary.  To help regulate intake, try limiting drinking to special occasions only( birthday parties, anniversaries, etc). Have just one glass of wine at dinner and no more.

Know your limit and avoid getting drunk.

4) Organize yourself !

Clear up the clutter in your home, organize your office space, and get more done. Clutter around you makes it difficult to focus and get things done. When things are where they should be and you have less clutter you function better and it makes doing day-to-day activities simpler.

Buy storage containers: Buy and label storage containers to reduce clutter around your home and office.  Things will stay in their place and you'll know exactly where to find them.
Storage containers come in cute designs so you can decorate and organize at the same time

Create to- do lists:  Make a list of your daily activities. Check them off one by one as you fulfill them.  Put the important things at the top and so on and so forth.

Get in the habit of doing this and you’ll realize you are getting more done.

Throw away things you don’t use or need anymore: If you haven’t used something in the last couple of months, get rid of it. You think you may need it but the simple fact that it’s been collecting dust proves otherwise. Donate clothing to the Salvation Army or have a yard sale.

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

5) Make time for friends/family!

School, work and other responsibilities sometimes leave no time for loved ones. Don't forget about them, make time for them, too.

Schedule hang outs:  Get your friends together and find a day when you are available to spend time together. It can be for coffee, dinner, or even a small gathering so you all can catch up.

Try to make setting up activities with friends regular so that it becomes part of your monthly schedule.

Have a family meal: Family meal time is a great time to interact with your family and get to know what everyone is up to.  Talk about school, recent activities and even family matters.

Have a home cooked meal at least 3 times a week, enough time to spend  with loved ones but not too much to drive you crazy.
