Christina Aguilera Screws Up the National Anthem, Black Eyed Pea perform and the Green Bay Packers Win

After Christina Aguilera's fumble on the lyrics to the National Anthem and the Black Eyed Peas crazed performance, it's almost as if everyone forgot why they were even there: to watch the Steelers and the Green Bay Packers battle it out for the Superbowl 2011 trophy. In case you were wondering, the Green Bay Packers won.

Christina Aguilera had the honor of opening the game with the National Anthem, however, lets just say she sang a rendition of her own. We all know Christina well for her amazing riffs and runs, but this time we're talking about how she missed a whole verse. Instead of singing "O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming" she improvised "What so proudly we watched at the twilight's last reaming." Oops! Some viewers and critics are really hanging her out to dry for the mistake, but honestly, it's not that big of a deal. This too will pass. We'll be talking about another celebrity screw up before the week is over. Besides, her vocals were amazing. Christina apologized for her mistake and delivered the following statement:"I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through." Lets pardon her.

Moving on. . . the half time show was another fumble of its own. The Black Eyed Peas performed renditions of their hits including "I Got a Feeling" and "Boom Boom Pow" and  Fergie singing with Slash as they performed Guns 'N Roses' "Sweet Child O' Mine".  Later, Usher made an appearance performing his hit "OMG" with Will.I.Am. The group dressed in futuristic costumes and had swarms of glowing dances crowd the field in glowing costumes.

This seems like it would be a great show, but here's what went wrong.  Fergie was trying just a little bit too hard to stretch that voice of her  that she came in late on several songs. Along with that, the mic kept coming in and out making it difficult to follow along to the performance. At some points viewers watched a muted performance and at some points the music overpowered the vocals.

Visually, the performance was great. The glowing dancers were awesome and fun to watch.  Usher's brief performance was the highlight of the show, and of course he delivered great dance moves. Makes one think, maybe he should have been chosen to lead the show--Usher never fails us.

Was this half time show a hit or miss?
Should we forgive Christina?
