Designer Narciso Rodriguez

Narciso Rodriguez has built a solid reputation for himself. Born in New Jersey of cuban-american parents, Fashion designer Narciso Rodriguez received his formal education at the famous Parsons School of Design in New York. Prior to launching his first ready-to-wear collection in 1997, Narciso has freelanced in New York Anne Klein under Donna Karan and Calvin Klein. Following his first collection, Rodriguez was awarded best new designer at the vogue VH1 fashion awards in New York city and the Perry Ellis Award for best new designer by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

At 7pm, the main room at Bryant Par, the tent, was filled with people running around, press, media, paparazzi and a-listers. At the front row, 20 something photographers were fighting to get a shot of actress Jessica Alba, who arrived just before the show, by herself. She just gave birth less than a year ago and she looked beautiful yet a little tired. She definitely lost all the baby weight and appeared to even be thinner than her before famous curvy body. Jessica, now a blonde, had her hair puled back in a classy bun and was sporting a classy sleeveless black dress. She stood up for the paparazzi with a smile...A few chairs away, cameras were clicking left and right on Courtney Love who like usual, posed for the camera and loved the attention.

We had the best spot in the house, front row in the press area right in front of the end of the runway! Yay
The light dimmed and the show started!...
The collection was beautiful as expected from Narciso Rodriguez. However, I didn't see anything original nor did my jaw drop. Narciso kept it simple, a-line and neutral with accents of fuschia, red and greys/silver using mostly silk, chiffon, satin and some linen. Clean straight legged pants with textures tops, a few metallic dresses with optical lines but most of all very simple below the knee classic solid two-tonal loose fitted dresses with zipper. La creme de la creme were definitely the 3 last dresses which could be Red Carpet dresses, short in the front and long in the back: a black silk embroidered dress, white silk embroidered dress and silver dress. Save the best for last. Bravo to Narciso once again. Hopefully next season, he will spice it up a little and bring us something we don't expect.
