We had the pleasure to sit down and chat with Niki McGloster from Vibe Magazine a couple weeks back followed by an improved photoshoot with great photographer MAXIMO. Here is the article that just came today along with the pictures.
Born from the tale of a Vietnamese love story, indentical twin sisters To-Tam and To-Nya are the yin and yang of the designing theatre with their fashion line Sachika. Before they lived and breathed the essence of the brand, they were cut from a creatively entreprenuerial cloth that catapulted them to New York City, by way of Paris and Montreal, and afforded them the opportunity to show their 2011 Fall/Winter collection in the city’s famed Fashion Week 2011. The delicately feminine threads showcased growth from the ladies’ humble beginnings and a cutting edge direction that reflects their personal style in fashion and in method of fueling the machine.
“My sister is very organized and responsible, and I’m more of a people person. She’s more internal,” To-Tam chimes in, “I don’t have certain steps to what I do; I just know that I make it happen somehow my way.”
To-Nya agrees, “I am the creative person, the artist with the business personality, more strategic, and she’s the businesswoman with the artist personality.”
Having left their respective occupations, the two decided to join forces in 2009 to build a brand for the “modern woman ” that accentuates the tender sides of every sophisticated female. Two years since it’s inception, Sachika is continuously gaining recognition by other designers and coveted by celebrities, such as Nicki Minaj, Angela and Vanessa Simmons, Adrienne Bailon, reality stars Jill Zarin and Patti Stanger and Ice T’s voluptuous wife, CoCo. Overflowing with lace, short skirts, mini-dresses, soft colors and hints of sparkle and shimmer, this line is fit for every on-to-the woman who needs a sophisticated, versatile and stylish presence from the boardroom to the night out with her lady entourage.
Where are they going from here? Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2012, appearances onIce Loves CoCo, bi-coastal boutiques, accessories, a co-ed collection, their own reality show and a denim line.
"At heart, we love denim; I love jeans. Denim is alot more than just a casualty fabric, and I want to show that to the world," To-Nya says, "Our main goal is to inspire people. Sachika is only a portion of what we want to do, a stepping stone for us to express ourselves. At the end of the day, what we really want to do is inspire people, to touch people. This year's birthday celebration was EXTRA special! We had the pleasure to have an array of extraordinary people join us, from the guests to the sponsors to the team, in order to create an amazingly warm and loving birthday bash!

We truly had AN AMAZING evening...far beyond what we could have imagined!!!...Especially since it was planned pretty last minute!
The evening started with a surprise from our personal trainer, Sidney Wilson who picked us up at our loft with a limo & beautiful flowers!....It was so nice to get to the venue, Juliet Supperclub, with the SACHIKA Team! A little touch well thought of! THANK YOU SIDNEY....:) Ladies, he's got some mean abs....He's definitely the guy for anyone looking to get in shape QUICKLY!
Juliet Supperclub was the perfect venue for us. The venue is sexy and flirty...setting the mood for an surreal evening of celebration. Thank you to Barry Mullineaux for allowing us to have our birthday event at Juliet! We had balloons everywhere and beautiful models from BSI Model Management greeting and charming our guests. They were all wearing our newest design, the Delima dress: a purple and black sequined fitted dress to complement the venue and the celebration.
Our guests were welcomed with an open bar, courtesy of our 3 amazing liquor sponsors: Belvedere Vodka, TYKU liquors and Alma Tequila. Everyone was pleased as those brands are of high quality.
We were honored to have VIBE Magazine be our official presenter...all guests received complimentary VIBE magazines and music albums from diverse artists such as Corinne Bailey, Snoop Dogg, Omarion, Ryan Leslie, Capone- N- Moreaga and more. Lookout for our birthday coverage in the next issue of VIBE Magazine :) Thank you VIBE for being our part of our special day!
The venue was on FIRE with 2 amazing DJs. DJ YOUNG CHOW was the first one behind the turntables followed by DJ Webstar. We couldn't ask for better hosts and DJs...its was POPPING!!! Although there was a snow storm happening outside, we can assure you that everyone at Juliet was warm and happy!
Lola Collins Cake Pops and delicious mini cupcakes from Tonnie's Minis were a real treat! Bite-sized and engorged with flavors, those kept everyone high on energy! It's a SACHIKA TWINS' event, and everyone knows its FULL on!

We had our favorite dancing team, the VENUS girls to cheer up the crowd and keep the night on rhythm! Full of energy and suave moves, Venus made it a night in the sexy jungle:) Thank you girls for making our birthday extra groovy!
