KEEP IT SHINING ! - Spring/ Summer 2014 Fashion Trends

SACHIKA full of metallic leathers for Spring 2014

It's time to shine!

Lustrous foils, precious-metal prints, iridescent fabrics and holographic finishes brought glitter, gleam and gloss to the catwalks for Spring 2014.
The sheen that features heavily in the spring/summer 14 collections has magical qualities. When hit by light, one colour becomes many, while the gauzy fabrics float about the body like a mystical glow.

DAY 1 RECAP MERCEDES-BENZ NYFW S/S 14' : STRUT IT OUT!

The first official day of Mercedes-Benz has finally arrived! Lincoln Center, where individuals from all over the world come to preview what the trendsetters have in store for the next six months in Fashion, has been the prime location. New  styles for our upcoming Spring and summer  have been flowing through the runway, giving the audience a whiff of uplifting refreshment and fluent elegance for what's to come. From the striking bold to geometric wonder, the first day was a total success! Here are a few  photos of some of the Designers that showed on the first day.

                                                              NICHOLAS K.

Their S/S '14 collection is inspired by the Native American theme, combining accessories such as headbandswithfeathers. The color palette was made of earthy colors such as white, greys, black browns, and burnt orange. These layered looks are everyday's womenswear. Silhouettes are loose and flowy, cpmplimenting a wide range of body types.

                                                                BCBGMAXAZRIA

This year BCBGMAXAZRIA introduced a lot of new ideas for their Spring/Summer 2014 collection. In a show full of mixed arrangements and contrast., the collection exudes an unique aesthetic of light summer shades and materials combined with a sharpened edge of folds and mixes. The collection is fresh, simple and contrasts the feminine vs masculine silhouettes.

                                                             TADASHI SHOJI

Sweat Liberation. It is easy to imagine this splendidly attired models strolling casually but confidently down the boulevards of Paris in the 1950s. Shoji’s empowered elegance is a mix of nostalgia and modern. The clothes are designed for strong women in a fierce contemporary world.  Shoji took an old fashioned and  seductive approach for his new collection.

                                                                      CANDELA

Inspiring infused streetwear and more casual elements into a hyperfeminine, romantic lineup. Channeling a marine theme, Perezutti used natural rope for the straps of a navy silk maxidress and re-created the patterns of maritime flags on color-blocked lace shirts and pencil skirts.

 DESIGUAL

Fun & flirty! This Mediterranean inspired collection is filled with colorful prints, polka dots, stripes and weightless fabrics.  This is the first time Desigual showed at New York Fashion Week and the Spanish fashion brand did not disappoint. The collection was divided into three themes; fun, love and sex. The show opened with the theme of fun, eye-catching animal prints, bold symbols and sixties references. The optimistic  feel and care-free nature is the energy that defines the collection this season.

MARISSA WEBB

The 2014 collection, Webb adds a taste of sophistication bringing a hint of leather detailing, into spring and summer with cropped jackets, shorts, and skirts. Colors are bold and bright. . From pop bold reds to bright blues and yellows, this collection gives a sense of happiness and good vibes.

Victoria Beckham vs SACHIKA : Fall 2011 Collections

Browsing through all the all the FALL 2011 collections, we stumbled upon Victoria Beckham's
collection. What caught our eyes the most what the simple fact that there were a  great number
of similar looks to our own Fall 2011 collection: SACHIKA . From the color schemes to the
silhouettes to the fabrications, the resemblance is eminent. Both collections were released at
around same time ( few days apart) in February so needless to say, no copycat possibilities.
Victoria Beckham style has always breathed simplicity, class and effortless elegance and those
are qualities SACHIKA has always been associated with. We are flattered to see that our
creative direction has somewhat matched hers. GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE, Shall we say?!

What are your thoughts of the above designs?!

Lady Gaga Announced as Musical Director for Thierry Mugler

Lady Gaga rocks a meat dress designed by creative director for Thierry Mugler, Nicola Formechetti, to the VMA

Lady Gaga pairs up  once again with Nicola Formichetti,  stylist of her infamous meat dress, to produce the soundtrack for Thierry Mugler's show. Nicola Formichetti recently was assigned as the creative director for Thierry Mugler and with the help of Twitter, Lady Gaga announces "I'm the musical director for the MUGLER show" showing in Paris, France.

 Thierry Mugler

Nicola Formichetti

The two have dynamic chemistry and there is no doubt that they will produce a heart stopping show!  They are having fun together and getting very inspired by Mugler and what he represents. With this show, Formechetti wants people to think, "OK, there's something new happening".  He wants people to view something that is completely out of the box and we couldn't think of anyone better than Lady Gaga to do just that.

Lady Gaga featured in a Thierry Mugler ensemble.

The track has been selected and is being re-mixed by Gaga herself., which will include her never before heard track" Born This Way". Formechetti describes the soundtrack as " very hard, but pop at the same time". Sounds like the very  best work of Gaga.  Formechetti's final remark:" I heard it, I said, that's Mugler"!

We can't wait to hear what these two will come up with to blow our minds away. Watch the show today at 6p.m., Paris time and noon NYC time!

What are your views of the show and Lady Gaga's remix?
